Tom Winter is running for Congress on a comprehensive policy platform and a proven track record of flipping competitive GOP seats. When the pandemic came, Tom spent campaign money and resources on acquiring personal protective equipment (PPE) for Montana’s frontline workers. He donated respirator masks to rural hospitals, fire departments, sheriff’s offices, tribal health clinics, coroners and anyone in dire need.
If the pandemic has shown us anything, it is that the economy and health care system we have today fails working Montanans. No one should be one paycheck away from financial ruin.
In 2018, he flipped a legislative seat that Trump won by 11 points that was held by a Republican that wanted to cut health care from 50,000 people. He won because he talked to every neighbor – no matter their party or who they voted for in the presidential election – about ensuring the rich pay their fair share and build a broadly shared prosperity for our community.
As a member of the legislature, he fought for that change. He authored 24 bills, to protect families from scammer insurance companies, to ensure Montanans with pre-existing conditions could get healthcare, and to ensure that our state got the best deal on expensive, life-saving drugs.
Now, he is running for Congress because the same politicians are running, and losing, every year because they are proposing small change that doesn’t address the fundamental inequities holding hardworking Montanans back. He will ensure healthcare is a right, an economy that rewards work rather than wealth, and confront climate change like the real problem it is.
Our politics is broken, we need leadership that will fight for Montana’s working families instead of corporations and lobbyists. Tom’s campaign was the first in state history to unionize because he believes in fighting for all workers. Now is more important than ever to have a Congressman in DC that will have our backs.
